Choosing a motherboard

The motherboard  is in my opinion, the most important part in building a computer. It defines what size case, what CPU, and what RAM or Graphics card you can use. When choosing a motherboard make sure to choose on that is compatible with the CPU that you want to use. Newer motherboards use DDR3 RAM. I would recommend going with one of these because DDR3 prices are dropping. Once you have a motherboard picked out, you can move onto the other parts.

Basic parts of a PC

These are the basic parts of a computer. However, Most computers have a sound card built into the motherboard. More on the individual parts later.

So, You want to build a PC?

Building a PC has many advantages over buying one in a store. You can customize it to anything that you want. It could be focused on gaming or CPU speed, or it could be for everyday tasks. It is also MUCH cheaper that buying one. If is easier to upgrade after you build it and you know how much power it has (Watts). This is useful so you don't buy a cool new graphics card, and realize that your power supply isn't powerful enough to support it.  You also have the satisfaction of knowing that what you built was made by you.
